Procedure for resolving a conflict of interest

Unpublished materials must not be used in any research by an editor, reviewers or other persons without written consent from the authors.

The editors, reviewers and research advisers are obliged to recuse themselves from considering articles in case of conflict of interests being a result of competitive, common or other interactions with authors, companies and possibly other organisations linked to the article.

The editorial board is obliged to adopt appropriate measures in case conflict situations and complaints about considered articles or published materials occur.

The Editor-in-Chief reviews the reports submitted by reviewers and makes the final decision regarding publication based on their evaluations, taking into account all recommendations, arguments, and compliance with the journal’s requirements.

The Editor-in-Chief does not participate in decisions concerning manuscripts authored by himself, members of his family, or colleagues, nor in cases where he has a personal interest in the outcome. All such manuscripts are subject to independent peer review without the involvement of the Editor-in-Chief or members of his research group. The final decision on these manuscripts is made by the Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief, editors, and/or members of the Editorial Board are handled according to a special procedure:

– such manuscripts are subject to mandatory independent peer review;

– the Editor-in-Chief or the respective individual does not participate in the editorial decision-making process;

– an independent handling editor is appointed;

– reviewers are selected in a manner that prevents conflicts of interest and administrative dependence;

– the editorial decision is based solely on the reviewers’ reports and the scientific quality of the manuscript;

– all stages of the procedure are documented.
